While I have The Realistic LV-10, and the KOSS HV/1 Headphones, which are of the same design and both produced by KOSS, they reproduce FM Broadcasts, Most Vinyl and 3 3/4 IPS Reel to Reel, DAT, CD, and Cassette Recordings without any problem. It's when you want to Listen to High end sources, like 7 1/2 IPS Reel to Reel, Some Vinyl, and Cassette recordings on my Nakamichi, and there is every reason to use My HV/1A Headphones since there is content well above 20,000 cps. Another reason to use My HV/1A headphones for content that does not exceed 20,000 cps is that they would reproduce that content accurately since it is well within the limits and not at the limits of Headphones. So it's not always what may be too high for most to hear, it's also about accuracy in the audio that you can hear. Also, most Headphones do not even tell you what their specifications are any longer, and rely on subjective non-technical reviews from consumers to evaluate their products. Definitely a trend in the wrong direction for any product evaluation. The KOSS HV/1A will expose any shortcomings in your audio setup and is usually not the fault of the Headphones, but of another device. That's been My experience since I restore vintage equipment and one of my final tests are done with My HV/1A Headphones.

Fantastic Open Ear Phones
Overall
I have the Realistic Pro-60 headphones which are actually the Koss HV/1 headphones that I bought in in 1975. These are remarkable headphones that reproduce sound very accurately and are comfortable to wear. The only drawback the is the foam ear pieces that tend to deteriorate after years of use. Thankfully, you can still order replacement foams from Koss as the HV-1A. Not expensive either! If you can find a pair snap them up! Full spectrum sound rated 15-30,000 hz!

The incredible HV/1A and HV/1A +
Overall
The most prestigious earphones manufactured by John Koss the magician. I bought the first one in 1977. Today I have an HV / 1A and an HV / 1A + (an extraordinary helmet). I am a musician and songwriter. Koss headphones from the 70s to the present day are the best audiophile earphones in the world. Too bad they are no longer manufactured. !

Still Good After 40 Years
Overall
I will keep my about 40-year-old HV-1A headphones until they die and can’t be repaired. I just keep replacing the foam ear cushions when they wear out. I did have to purchase a 4mm nut driver to disassemble the right speaker housing because one of the slip-on connectors came off one of the driver element pins. After a slight crimp, I slipped the connector back on and wrapped a small wire tie around the feed wire to keep it from pulling out of the housing. The HV-1As sound better than my Sennheiser HD-570s, especially with a headphone amp if needed, and better than my high-end Sony in-ear-monitors.

HV1A Hear the fantastic sound.
Overall
I had 2 pairs of these back in the day and found an unopened HV1on eBay that I got for $125.00, had to order new cushions as they turned to dust. Also got a never opened XP/3XC, very surprised at the sound. Receipt in box $9.95. you need to re-issue these phones with one change better designed cushions. I am wearing my HV1's right now for a little over an hour and they are killing my ears. My ES950 and PRO4A are the most comfortable headphones ever.
Thank you.
